ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE — Hon. Adeyemi Ademuyiwa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the Ogun State House of Assembly, Abeokuta South Constituency II, has taken his 2027 election campaign to the Temidire Community Development Association, where he outlined a series of proposed initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of residents and accelerating community development.
Ademuyiwa, who visited the community as part of his grassroots engagement ahead of the forthcoming 2027 general elections, promised to prioritise youth empowerment, skills acquisition, employment opportunities for graduates, improved electricity supply and other people-oriented programmes if elected into the state legislature.
The visit was part of efforts to engage directly with residents, community leaders and other stakeholders, understand their needs and present his vision for effective representation at the Ogun State House of Assembly.
The APC aspirant was accompanied by the party's Ward 9 Chairman in Abeokuta South, Chief Isiaka Fagbemi, popularly known as Ajanaku; the Ward 9 councillor, Akeem Taoreed; and other political stakeholders in Abeokuta South Local Government Area.
Addressing members of the Temidire Community Development Association during the meeting, Ademuyiwa highlighted his commitment to grassroots development, social welfare and economic empowerment, stressing the importance of addressing challenges affecting young people, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable members of society.
Youth Empowerment, Skills Acquisition Top Agenda
As part of his proposed development agenda, Ademuyiwa pledged to introduce youth empowerment initiatives and skills acquisition programmes designed to equip young people with practical and vocational skills that could improve their chances of securing employment or establishing their own businesses.
He also promised to pursue employment opportunities for graduates, noting the importance of creating pathways for educated young people to contribute meaningfully to society and achieve economic independence.
The proposed initiatives, according to the campaign message presented during the visit, are aimed at addressing unemployment and promoting self-reliance among residents, particularly young people seeking opportunities to improve their living conditions.
His emphasis on vocational training and employment reflects a campaign focus on equipping constituents with opportunities to become economically productive and less dependent on limited sources of income.
Promises Solar Lighting, Better Electricity Supply
On infrastructure, the APC aspirant promised to facilitate the provision of solar-powered streetlights in the community as part of efforts to improve public lighting and enhance safety.
He also pledged to pursue improvements in electricity supply in Ijeun Titun, an issue he identified among the concerns requiring attention in the area.
Improved public lighting and electricity supply are expected to support commercial activities, enhance residents' convenience and contribute to a safer environment if the proposed initiatives are successfully implemented.
The commitments form part of his broader campaign message, which focuses on combining social intervention with infrastructure development to address the everyday needs of constituents.
Ademuyiwa Promises Support for Elderly, Persons with Disabilities
Beyond youth development and infrastructure, Ademuyiwa also promised monetary assistance for elderly residents as part of his proposed social welfare programme.
He further pledged to provide foodstuffs to persons with disabilities (PWDs) through their association, signalling his intention to extend assistance to vulnerable groups within the constituency.
The proposed interventions are intended to provide relief to residents who may face economic hardship and require additional support to meet their basic needs.
His inclusion of elderly people and persons with disabilities in his campaign promises underscores the importance of inclusive representation and ensuring that community development initiatives take account of the needs of different segments of society.
Grassroots Engagement Ahead of 2027 Polls
The presence of Chief Isiaka Fagbemi, popularly known as Ajanaku, alongside Ward 9 Councillor Akeem Taoreed and other APC stakeholders, added a party dimension to the engagement, as the aspirant sought to strengthen his connection with residents ahead of the election.
Visits to community associations and other grassroots organisations provide political aspirants with opportunities to explain their programmes, listen to local concerns and seek the support of residents.
For Ademuyiwa, the engagement with the Temidire Community Development Association offered an opportunity to present his proposed priorities for Abeokuta South Constituency II, with particular attention to youth development, social welfare, infrastructure and employment.
As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, the aspirant's promises are likely to form part of the issues on which constituents will assess his vision and preparedness for legislative responsibilities.
However, the proposed programmes remain campaign commitments, with their eventual implementation dependent on his electoral success, the relevant institutional processes and the availability of resources.
Ademuyiwa is seeking election on the platform of the APC to represent Abeokuta South Constituency II in the Ogun State House of Assembly in 2027.
His engagement with the Temidire community marks another step in his effort to present his candidacy to grassroots stakeholders and seek support for his ambition to represent the constituency at the state legislature.
