ABUJA – September 2026 – The much-anticipated Charismatic Bishops 2026 SYNOD Conference has commenced in Abuja, drawing a high-powered gathering of church leaders, government officials and dignitaries from across the country.


The National President of the Charismatic Bishops SYNOD, *Archbishop Prof. Bature Leonard Karwas*, who presided over the conference, expressed delight at the turnout of dignitaries and participants.


The conference had in attendance the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, *Alhaji Idris Malagi*, who delivered a resounding speech, and *His Excellency George Akume*, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, who represented *President Bola Ahmed Tinubu*.




 *SYNOD Endorses President Tinubu For Second Term*


While addressing the congregation, Archbishop Prof. Leonard Karwas used the occasion to formally endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.


The endorsement, according to the Archbishop, was based on his assessment of the administration’s efforts to reposition the country.


*Archbishop Prof Joshua Robert Takes Centre Stage*


Following the endorsement, Archbishop Karwas called on the Vice Presidents of the Charismatic Bishops SYNOD from various geopolitical zones to be identified, including *Archbishop Prof. Joshua Robert*, the South East Vice President of the SYNOD.


Archbishop Prof. Joshua Robert was subsequently given audience to address the gathering.


In his speech, Archbishop Robert first complimented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as a commendable effort in fixing Nigeria and putting the country in a better state.


He also commended the SYNOD President, Archbishop Prof. Leonard Karwas, for his doggedness and commitment in bringing the bishops together under one umbrella and sustaining unity within the body.


 *Appeal For Nnamdi Kanu’s Release*


Making a passionate appeal on behalf of the South East, Archbishop Prof. Joshua Robert knelt before the leadership and made a request to be conveyed to Mr. President.


In his words:


> “I want to humbly request sir, this is from South East, with my kneels on the ground that you beg Mr President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu that Nnamdi Kanu be released sir.”


The statement drew attention from the congregation and has since become a major highlight of the conference.


The 2026 SYNOD, which is still ongoing in Abuja, is expected to feature deliberations on national unity, the role of the church in nation building, peace, and good governance.


The Charismatic Bishops SYNOD said the conference will issue a communique at the end of its sessions.
