The Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, has welcomed pupils, students, teachers, parents and guardians to the commencement of a new academic session, urging all stakeholders in the education sector to renew their commitment towards ensuring academic excellence and the proper development of children.
In a goodwill message to mark the beginning of the new school session, Odulate described every academic session as a fresh opportunity for students to learn, grow and acquire the knowledge, discipline and skills required to prepare them for a successful future.
The council chairman stressed that education remains a critical foundation for societal growth and development, noting that the Sagamu Local Government recognises the importance of creating an enabling environment where children can have access to quality education.
According to him, the responsibility of building a brighter future for children must be collectively shared by the government, teachers, parents, guardians and the students themselves.
Odulate therefore charged pupils and students across Sagamu Local Government to take their studies seriously, remain focused on their academic pursuits, respect their teachers and make meaningful use of the opportunities available to them.
He said discipline, dedication and hard work remain essential ingredients for academic success and personal development.
The chairman also acknowledged the important contributions of teachers in shaping the lives and future of young people, appreciating them for their commitment and sacrifices in nurturing and guiding pupils and students.
He urged teachers to remain steadfast in their responsibilities and continue to provide the necessary guidance, support and encouragement that would enable children to realise their full potential.
“To our teachers, I appreciate your role in shaping young minds and I urge you to continue to give our children the guidance and support they need,” the chairman stated.
Odulate further appealed to parents and guardians to remain actively involved in the education, welfare and overall development of their children and wards.
He emphasised that the success of every child should not be left to teachers or government alone, but must be pursued through a strong partnership among all stakeholders.
“The success of our children is a shared responsibility,” he said, calling on parents and guardians to provide the necessary support, encouragement and supervision required for their children to excel academically and morally.
Speaking on behalf of the Executive and Legislative Councils of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Odulate wished all pupils, students and teachers a successful, productive and rewarding academic session.
He expressed optimism that the new academic session would provide another opportunity for young learners to develop intellectually, morally and socially as they prepare to become responsible citizens and future leaders.
The Sagamu Local Government chairman concluded his message by warmly welcoming members of the educational community back to school and wishing them a fulfilling and successful session.
“Welcome back to school, and best wishes for a successful, productive and rewarding academic session,” he added.
