...Recovers cutlass, ₦17,500 allegedly stolen from victim
The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, otherwise known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested four suspected armed robbers following a swift operation at Oke-Efon, a suburban community in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The suspects were apprehended after allegedly robbing and inflicting machete wounds on their victim along a bush path in the community.
The State Commander of the Corps, Commander (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, disclosed this in a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander of Corps (ACC) Adegunwa Adegbuyi.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on Friday, August 28, 2026, at about 3:30 p.m., when the Divisional Officer of the So-Safe Corps' Bode Olude Division, CSC Ibrahim Tajudeen, received a distress call from members of the Oke-Efon Community reporting an ongoing armed robbery.
The Commander said the Divisional Officer immediately mobilised a team of operatives to the scene of the reported crime.
“On arrival, the team met a victim, whose name is withheld, who had been robbed and left with machete wounds along the bush path,” Ganzallo said.
He explained that the agonising cries of the injured victim attracted passers-by, who immediately gathered around the location before the arrival of the So-Safe Corps operatives.
The State Commander commended members of the community for promptly alerting the security agency and for their cooperation during the operation.
“Some members of the community who were aware that personnel of the Corps had been alerted waited for the team's arrival,” the statement said.
According to Ganzallo, immediately the operatives arrived at the scene, residents joined forces with the security team in advancing on the suspected robbers, leading to the arrest of all four suspects.
The arrested suspects were identified as Muhammed Ibrahim, 35; Umukoro Godfrey, 24; Lawal Azeez, 29; and Ogunbiyi Junior, 20.
Items recovered from the suspects include one cutlass and the sum of Seventeen Thousand, Five Hundred Naira (₦17,500), which was allegedly forcefully taken from the injured victim during the robbery.
Ganzallo stressed the importance of timely information from members of the public in the fight against crime, noting that the swift response and cooperation of the Oke-Efon Community played a significant role in the successful arrest of the suspects.
The So-Safe Corps boss also reassured residents of Ogun State of the Corps' commitment to maintaining public safety and responding promptly to security threats across communities.
As of the time of filing this report, the four suspects and the recovered exhibits had been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Adatan Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The So-Safe Corps has urged residents to continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to enhance efforts at protecting lives and property across the state.
