…Oseni-Gomez, Fagbenro, Others Commend Gesture, Urge Beneficiaries to Invest Funds

The Managing Director of the Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA), Alhaji Farouk Akintunde, has empowered 120 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 10, Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State, with a total sum of ₦7 million.

The empowerment programme, held on Wednesday, August 2, 2026, was aimed at strengthening the economic capacity of party members across the eight polling units that make up Ward 10, while encouraging greater grassroots participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The beneficiaries, according to the organisers, were selected based on their loyalty, commitment and active participation in the activities of the APC across the eight polling units in the ward.

The initiative is part of a series of empowerment interventions undertaken by Akintunde as part of efforts to support party members and residents within his political constituency.

The latest gesture came shortly after the OGWAMA boss distributed food items, farm animals and cash to APC leaders and loyal members in Abeokuta South Local Government, further highlighting his focus on grassroots empowerment and welfare.

Speaking at the event, Akintunde said the empowerment was designed as a practical intervention to put resources directly in the hands of committed party members and enable them to improve their livelihoods.

He expressed appreciation to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as their commitment to improving the living conditions of Nigerians through various government policies and programmes.

Akintunde particularly commended the President's Renewed Hope Agenda and urged APC members to remain steadfast in their support for the administration.

He also charged members of Ward 10 to take their civic responsibilities seriously by ensuring that eligible voters register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, political participation goes beyond attending party meetings, stressing that party members must be adequately prepared to exercise their franchise when the elections come.

He urged the beneficiaries and other APC faithful in the ward to intensify grassroots mobilisation and ensure that eligible voters were captured in the electoral register.

Akintunde further declared that the APC would work towards securing a strong electoral victory in the 2027 presidential election, calling on party members to mobilise massively for the return of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

He said: “The next election is for the APC. We must all be ready. We must ensure that our people get their voters cards and we must vote massively to return Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima to the presidency.”

The event attracted prominent APC leaders and stakeholders from Abeokuta South and beyond.

Among those who attended were the former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Titi Oseni-Gomez; Chairman of the APC in Abeokuta South Local Government, Chief Henry Fagbenro; Alawo Erin of Egbaland, Chief Nurudeen Olaleye; former House of Assembly member, Hon. Allen Taylor; former House of Assembly member, Hon. Idowu Olowofuja; and the APC House of Assembly candidate for the 2027 general election, Hon. Adeyemi Olumuyiwa.

Others included Yahaya Akano, Special Adviser on Media; Hon. Maiyegun Lawal Abidemi, Supervisor for Works, Abeokuta South Local Government; Animasaun Saheed, Board Member of the Agriculture Corporation; as well as other party leaders, stakeholders and faithful members.

The gathering also provided an avenue for APC leaders to interact directly with grassroots members and reaffirm their commitment to strengthening the party's structure at the ward and polling-unit levels.

Speaking on the gesture, Rt. Hon. Titi Oseni-Gomez commended Akintunde for what she described as his generosity and commitment to the welfare of APC members.

She urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds, advising them not to divert the money to social functions, Aso-Ebi or parties.

Rather, she encouraged them to invest the money in their businesses and other productive ventures that could improve their economic wellbeing.

On the 2027 elections, Oseni-Gomez expressed confidence in the readiness of APC members in Ward 10 and across the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency to support the party's candidates.

She said APC members in the constituency were prepared to vote for candidates contesting under the platform of the party in the 2027 general elections.

Also speaking, the Supervisor for Works in Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Maiyegun Lawal Abidemi, commended Akintunde for his commitment and support to party members, particularly at a time when many Nigerians were facing economic difficulties.

Lawal described Akintunde as a distinguished grassroots leader who was contributing to party cohesion and preparing members for the challenges of the 2027 elections.

He said the empowerment had demonstrated that political leadership could be complemented with tangible economic support for party members, adding that beneficiaries should expect more empowerment initiatives before the 2027 general elections.

The beneficiaries, in their separate remarks, expressed appreciation to Akintunde for the intervention, describing it as timely and significant.

They said the financial support would enable them to expand their businesses, support their families and pursue various livelihood opportunities.

The programme further underscored the growing importance of grassroots mobilisation, economic empowerment and party engagement as political parties intensify efforts to consolidate their structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

For Akintunde, the initiative represents another phase of his efforts to combine political mobilisation with tangible economic support for members of his constituency, while encouraging APC faithful to remain committed to the party and participate actively in the electoral process.
