Member representing Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Princess Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji, has flagged off the rehabilitation of the Ewu-Oluwo Road in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State, in what has been described as another major intervention aimed at improving infrastructure and enhancing the living conditions of residents.
The project, which is expected to ease transportation challenges and boost economic activities within the Ewu-Oluwo community and surrounding areas, was formally flagged off on behalf of the federal lawmaker by Madam Kemi Johnson.
Speaking at the ceremony, Madam Johnson said the commencement of the rehabilitation work was a reflection of Hon. Ayoola-Elegbeji's commitment to responding to the developmental needs of the people and facilitating projects with direct impact on communities across the constituency.
She said the lawmaker was particularly delighted to see work commence on the road, noting that the intervention was in response to the long-standing concerns expressed by residents and road users.
According to her, the rehabilitation represents another important step in the efforts to improve infrastructure and promote sustainable development within the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency.
“It gladdens the heart of Hon. Dr. Princess Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji to see the rehabilitation of Ewu-Oluwo Road officially commence today. This project is a response to the concerns of our people and another step towards improving infrastructure within our constituency,” she said.
Madam Johnson added that good road infrastructure remained essential to the social and economic wellbeing of communities, as it supports the movement of people and goods, encourages businesses and contributes to overall community development.
“Our people deserve good roads that will support movement, businesses, economic activities and community development. Hon. Dr. Ayoola-Elegbeji remains committed to listening to the people and pursuing interventions that will positively affect their lives,” she added.
The commencement of the project was received with excitement by residents, commercial drivers, business owners, commuters and other users of the Ewu-Oluwo Road, many of whom described the intervention as timely and significant.
One of the residents who spoke during the flag-off expressed appreciation to the lawmaker, saying the community had for years appealed for intervention on the road.
“We are very happy to see this road being attended to. For a long time, we have been appealing for intervention. The commencement of work has given us hope that the difficulties we have faced will soon become a thing of the past,” the resident said.
Another community member described the road as an important route that connects residents to other areas and supports various commercial activities.
“This road connects people to different areas and supports our businesses. We appreciate Hon. Dr. Princess Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji for listening to our concerns and taking action,” the resident stated.
A local business owner also expressed optimism that the rehabilitation would positively affect commercial activities in the area by making transportation easier for traders, customers and suppliers.
“When the road is properly rehabilitated, it will make transportation easier and help businesses around here. We are grateful that the project has commenced,” the business owner said.
For commercial drivers who regularly ply the route, the development has also brought renewed hope of relief from the daily challenges associated with bad roads.
One of the drivers said a properly rehabilitated road would reduce stress, improve movement and make daily transportation activities easier.
“We are happy to see the rehabilitation commence. A good road will reduce the stress of movement and make our daily work easier,” he said.
Madam Johnson, speaking further on behalf of the federal lawmaker, stressed that effective representation goes beyond legislative duties, adding that it also requires identifying the critical needs of constituents and pursuing practical interventions that can improve their quality of life.
She said Hon. Ayoola-Elegbeji remains committed to translating the mandate given to her by the people into visible and meaningful developmental outcomes across Ikenne, Sagamu and Remo North.
The lawmaker also appreciated residents, community leaders, stakeholders and relevant government agencies for their patience, cooperation and support, while assuring the people that the Ewu-Oluwo Road rehabilitation was only one of several development-focused interventions being pursued across the constituency.
“We will continue to listen to our people, engage with stakeholders and pursue projects that matter to our communities. This is another step forward, and we remain committed to doing more for our constituents,” Madam Johnson conveyed on behalf of the lawmaker.

The flag-off of the Ewu-Oluwo Road rehabilitation further underscores Hon. Dr. Princess Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji's people-centred approach to representation and her determination to ensure that the developmental needs of the people of Ikenne, Sagamu and Remo North receive continued attention.
