…Appeals for speedy completion of Abeokuta–Kajola–Ajebo Road
The Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Ambassador Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, has commissioned a 1.3-kilometre asphalt road, 10 lock-up shops and a two-classroom block with an office as part of efforts to accelerate grassroots development across the council area.
The projects, executed by the local government administration, are located across Kajola Ward, Moloko-Asipa and the Oluwo/Adigbe axis of Oba Ward.
The commissioned projects include the 1.3-kilometre asphalt road linking Oluwo, Mango and Adigbe; 10 lock-up shops at Kajola Market; and a block comprising two classrooms and an office at United Anglican Primary School, Moloko-Asipa.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremonies, Amb. Ogunsola said the projects were delivered in fulfilment of his administration’s electioneering promises and represented another milestone in its determination to make governance more responsive to the needs of residents.
He said the Oluwo/Mango/Adigbe road would significantly improve connectivity within the communities, ease the movement of residents and goods, reduce transportation difficulties and stimulate economic activities along the axis.
According to him, the provision of the 10 lock-up shops at Kajola Market was designed to support local commerce by providing traders with a more conducive and organised business environment.
The council chairman also highlighted the importance of the education project at Moloko-Asipa, saying the construction of the two-classroom block and office at United Anglican Primary School was aimed at creating a better learning and teaching environment for pupils and teachers.
Ogunsola reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to executing people-oriented projects across the various wards of Obafemi Owode Local Government.
He stressed that available resources would continue to be managed prudently, while developmental projects would be distributed equitably to ensure that communities across the council benefit from government interventions.
CALL FOR COMPLETION OF ABEOKUTA–KAJOLA–AJEBO ROAD
The council chairman used the occasion to appeal to the Federal Government, through the Ogun State Government, to expedite the completion of the ongoing Abeokuta/Kajola/Ajebo road project.
Ogunsola described the road as a strategic infrastructure project capable of transforming transportation and commercial activities in the area when completed.
He noted that its completion would improve access to neighbouring communities, facilitate the movement of people and agricultural and commercial goods, reduce travel difficulties and further stimulate socio-economic development.
The council chairman expressed optimism that the Ogun State Government would continue to engage the relevant authorities and ensure that the project receives the attention required for its timely completion.
COMMISSIONER PRAISES OGUNSOLA
Speaking at the event, the Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiu Hamzat, who represented the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, commended Amb. Ogunsola for what he described as the judicious utilisation of local government resources.
Hamzat said none of the commissioned projects could be regarded as a misplaced priority, noting that the projects addressed important needs in the areas of infrastructure, commerce and education.
He urged residents of the benefiting communities to protect and maintain the facilities and ensure that they are put to proper use for the benefit of present and future generations.
The commissioner also called on the communities to continue supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly ahead of the forthcoming general elections, arguing that political continuity would help sustain the delivery of development projects across sectors.
POLITICAL LEADERS, RESIDENTS ATTEND
The commissioning ceremonies attracted political leaders, community stakeholders, market women, residents and other dignitaries from across Obafemi Owode Local Government.
Among those in attendance were Engr. Babatunde Akeem Adesina, Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Public Works; Alhaji Emilola Gazal, former Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Ogun State; and other political leaders from the local government.
Residents and community leaders expressed appreciation to the council chairman for the projects, describing them as interventions capable of improving their daily lives and strengthening economic activities within the affected communities.
Amb. Ogunsola assured residents that his administration would remain focused and responsive to their needs, promising to continue implementing impactful projects and programmes aimed at improving infrastructure, education, commerce and the overall welfare of the people.
The council chairman maintained that the projects were part of his administration’s broader commitment to bringing the dividends of democracy closer to residents and ensuring that development reaches communities across Obafemi Owode Local Government.
