A 33-year-old Uber driver, Adam Daley, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison after holding a female passenger at knifepoint and r@ping her in Leicester, UK.
Daley picked up two women after a night out and dropped one off before ordering the other into the front seat, where he forced her to perform oral s+x while thr£atening her with a knife.
The att@ck happened on December 29 after the victim and her friend accepted his offer of a ride through the Uber app.
After dropping off the victim’s friend, Daley continued the journey and began making s+xual remarks and asking inappropriate questions. He later pulled into a layby, claiming he needed to use the toilet, but instead thr£atened the woman with a knife, forced her into the front seat, made her perform oral s+x, and s+xually ass@ulted her. He then abandoned her by the roadside and drove away.
The victim immediately called emergency services, leading to Daley’s arrest within an hour after police tracked him using CCTV and ANPR cameras. He tried to destroy evidence by stamping on his phone during his arrest, but investigators relied on forensic evidence, CCTV footage, and phone data to build the case. He was also handed a S+xual Harm Prevention Order and a restraining order barring him from contacting the victim.
Despite forensic evidence linking the victim to him, Daley denied the offences, claiming her DNA was transferred through a shared water bottle. Investigators also found he drove past the victim three times after abandoning her.
He was sentenced to 16 years in prison after being convicted of r@pe, s£xual ass@ult, possession of a knife, and making thr£ats to k+ll. He also admitted to drug-driving offences and possessing indecent images of a child discovered on his phone.
Police praised the victim for quickly reporting the att@ck, saying her bravery helped secure Daley’s arrest before he could target anyone else. Detectives have urged any other potential victims to come forward.
