There was an outpouring of joy and celebration in Oke-Aro community, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, as friends, political associates, and well-wishers gathered in large numbers to witness the installation of Mrs. Cecilia Jolaade Akintobi as the Yeye Fiwagboye of Oke-Aro Kingdom.
The colourful ceremony, which attracted dignitaries from within and beyond Ogun State, was presided over by the Olu of Oke-Aro, Oba Olayiwola Sodipo, who commended the new titleholder for her consistent contributions to community development and grassroots politics.
Mrs. Akintobi, a respected political figure in Ifo Local Government, has built a reputation for her dedication to public service and empowerment initiatives. Her influence and commitment earned her appointment as Senior Legislative Aide to Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka, the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives.
Speaking during the installation, Oba Sodipo described the honour as well-deserved, noting that Mrs. Akintobi’s relentless efforts in improving the socio-political landscape of Ifo and its environs distinguished her among her peers.
“This title is not just ceremonial; it is a recognition of service, loyalty, and commitment to the growth of this kingdom,” the monarch stated.
The event turned into a carnival-like atmosphere as supporters adorned in colourful attires sang praises of the new Yeye Fiwagboye, highlighting her role in community upliftment, youth engagement, and political mobilization.
In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Akintobi expressed deep gratitude to the royal institution and the people of Oke-Aro for finding her worthy of the honour. She pledged to continue her service to humanity and to uphold the values and traditions of the kingdom.
“I am humbled by this recognition. It is a call to do more for our people, especially in areas of development, unity, and empowerment,” she said.
Several political stakeholders and community leaders who spoke at the event described her as a bridge-builder and a woman of substance whose leadership style has positively impacted many lives.
The installation ceremony not only celebrated individual achievement but also reinforced the importance of community service and traditional institutions in fostering development at the grassroots level.
