The Management of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, has issued a formal clarification regarding the utilization of a ₦2 million donation made to the family of recently delivered quadruplets at the facility.
In a statement released by the hospital’s Information and Public Relations Department, the management expressed deep appreciation to the philanthropist popularly known as “beardedsina” for the generous gesture. The donation, which drew widespread public attention, was described as timely and impactful in supporting the welfare of the newborns and their mother.
However, the hospital emphasized that all medical expenses incurred by both the mother and her quadruplets have been fully covered by the institution. According to the statement, this decision was taken under the leadership of the Medical Director, , and in line with directives from the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, , alongside the Chairman of the hospital’s Board, .
The management clarified that the ₦2 million donation will therefore not be applied to hospital bills, but instead redirected towards other critical needs of the family. These include nutritional support for the mother, baby care essentials, and broader welfare requirements necessary for the healthy upbringing of the quadruplets.
“The hospital remains committed to the well-being of both the mother and her children,” the statement noted, adding that such acts of generosity from members of the public serve as a strong encouragement and a testament to societal solidarity.
FMC Abeokuta also used the opportunity to call on other well-meaning individuals and organizations to support the family during this crucial period, stressing that raising multiple infants simultaneously presents significant financial and emotional demands.
The management concluded by reaffirming its dedication to providing quality healthcare services and compassionate support to patients, while expressing gratitude for the continued trust and goodwill of the public.
