ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has officially announced the commencement of the holiday for the second term of the 2025/2026 academic session.
In a press release issued today, March 27, 2026, from the Office of the Honourable Commissioner, the state government directed all educational institutions across the state to proceed on a three-week break starting next month.
Scope of the Directive
According to the statement signed by the State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi A. Arigbabu, the holiday applies to a wide range of institutions, including:
* All Public and Private Primary Schools.
* All Public and Private Secondary Schools.
* All Government Technical Colleges within Ogun State.
Key Dates for the Academic Calendar
The Ministry has provided a clear timeline for the break to ensure students, teachers, and parents can plan accordingly:
* Commencement of Holiday: Monday, April 6, 2026.
* End of Holiday: Friday, April 24, 2026.
* Resumption Date: Monday, April 27, 2026.
The government expects all schools to strictly adhere to these dates, with full academic activities scheduled to resume immediately on the morning of April 27.

Beyond the administrative details, Prof. Arigbabu used the medium to address the home front. The Commissioner enjoined parents and guardians to take "adequate care of their wards" during the vacation period. This appeal comes as a reminder of the shared responsibility between the state and the community in ensuring the safety and moral upbringing of students while they are away from the structured environment of the classroom.
