The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijebu North Local Government has empowered youths across all the eleven wards of the council area, reaffirming its commitment to youth development and economic empowerment.
The empowerment programme, which attracted party leaders, government officials, and beneficiaries, was held at the Ijebu North Local Government Secretariat, Ijebu-Igbo.
Speaking at the event, the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, who was represented by Dr. Muritala Ejalonibu, described the initiative as a direct investment in the shared future of the people through the empowerment of young citizens.
Talabi commended the APC Youth Leader in Ijebu North and the entire leadership of the party at the local government level for initiating what he described as a laudable and timely programme.
According to him, “This programme is not just an event; it is a statement of intent—an affirmation that we recognise the urgency of investing in the energy, creativity, and enterprise of our youths. Our young people need support, tools, opportunities, and platforms to build their lives with dignity and respect".
He further assured that, efforts would be made to ensure the long-term success of the initiative, so beneficiaries can use the empowerment items to create sustainable livelihoods.
Also speaking, the member representing the federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Joseph Adegbesan, said the programme aligns with the vision of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which places strong emphasis on youth inclusion, skills development, and enterprise support.
He added that the initiative also reflects the leadership direction of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, Mr. Bolaji Odusanya, expressed appreciation to all individuals and stakeholders who contributed financially and morally to the success of the empowerment programme.
The APC Chairman in Ijebu North, Mr. Mosun Oladipupo, commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for consistently placing youth empowerment at the centre of governance through education support, vocational training, entrepreneurship development, infrastructure expansion, and inclusive youth-oriented policies.
The APC Youth Leader in the council, Mrs. Ramota Rabiu, urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the equipment provided, stressing the importance of discipline, productivity, and progress.
Two beneficiaries, Mr Wahab Adeoye from Ward 11 Mamu Ijebu the youth leader of Mamu Ijebu community and Mr. Dare Gboteso from Atikori Ward one, expressed gratitude to the party leadership for remembering them.
They noted that, they had been actively involved in party politics since 1998 and pledged to put the items received to good use.
Items distributed included, sewing machines, generators, hair clippers, and gas cylinders with kitchen ustencil and phone charging boards.
