Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, describing his passing as a painful loss to the Corps, the road safety community and the nation at large.
The governor, in a condolence message, commiserated with the Corps Marshal and the national leadership of the FRSC in Abuja, as well as the management, officers and men of the Corps across the country over the death of the senior road safety official.
Abiodun also extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends, professional associates and all those who were touched by the life and service of the late Ogunjobi, acknowledging the profound grief occasioned by his passing.
The governor noted that Ogunjobi demonstrated commitment to road safety administration, public enlightenment and stakeholder engagement, stressing that his dedication underscored the importance of professional service in protecting lives and property.
According to him, the late Sector Commander played a significant role in promoting responsible road use, encouraging compliance with traffic regulations and supporting initiatives aimed at making roads across Ogun State safer for motorists, passengers and other road users.
Abiodun observed that effective road safety management requires sustained public education, collaboration among relevant stakeholders and the enforcement of traffic regulations to minimise road traffic crashes and protect the lives of citizens.
He noted that the death of the FRSC commander was particularly painful at a time when the collective efforts of road safety officials remained critical to addressing road traffic challenges and strengthening safety standards across the country.
The governor emphasised that the contributions of dedicated public servants to the protection of lives and property remained invaluable, adding that Ogunjobi's service to the Corps and the nation would be remembered by colleagues and those who benefited from his professional commitment.
While mourning the deceased, Abiodun prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and urged his family, colleagues and associates to draw comfort from the worthy service he rendered to the nation.
He further prayed that Almighty God would grant the bereaved family the strength and fortitude to withstand the loss, while extending the same prayers to the FRSC national leadership, officers and men of the Corps, and others affected by the tragedy.
The governor's condolence message highlights the importance of the work carried out by road safety officials in promoting discipline on the highways, raising public awareness and protecting road users.
The passing of the Ogun State Sector Commander is a significant loss to the road safety community, particularly in view of the continuing need for collaboration between government agencies, motorists and other stakeholders to improve road safety and reduce avoidable deaths on Nigerian roads.
