Buhari spent eight years cleaning up PDP’s mess- APC

The All Progressive Congress (APC) says the Muhammadu Buhari government spent all of eight years cleaning up the mess left by successive Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administrations.

Speaking on Channels Television on Monday, Felix Morka, APC national publicity secretary, said the Buhari administration was an “intervenor” government that saved Nigeria from the precipice.

During the interview, the party’s spokesperson was asked to react to the worsening economic indicators in the country given that the current administration took over from an APC government.

In his response, Morka said the challenges facing the Tinubu administration are “generational”.

“The Buhari administration did nothing in eight years but to clean and mop up the mess made by the PDP,” the spokesperson said.

“What Nigerians don’t realise is that the PDP operated a phantom economy, where billions of naira and dollars were awarded and thrown around for declared national projects.

“Projects that were never done as such. All of the money was simply rolled out into private pockets. The mess we are dealing with today was not constructed today but was constructed generationally.

“The perpetrators of the heinous crimes against this country were manufactured and delivered by the PDP in 16 years. Buhari was simply an intervenor government that simply came to hold place and made sure to hold Nigeria away from the precipice.

“There is nothing you will tell me about our problems today that were not constructed generationally. How do you explain 64 years of a country on one product — crude oil — and we did not do anything?

“That was not Buhari’s fault necessarily, and it was not Tinubu’s fault necessarily. It is the fault of those who governed Nigeria before today, especially 16 years of the PDP.”

In the last nine years, the APC has been blaming the PDP, the party in power from 1999 to 2015, for the country’s woes.
