Police Recovers Iyalode Of Yorubaland’s Mobile Phone, Arrests Suspect

After two months of intensive investigation and relentless search, men of Ogun State Police Command have recovered the mobile phone of Iyalode of Yorubaland, Iyalode Alaba Lawson stolen in Abeokuta.

Similarly, the suspect, Maureen Ohakamike who stole the phone was tracked to Lagos State and was arrested by the police in the state after the serious manhunt.

It could be recalled that Iyalode Lawson in December last year was at a business centre in Abeokuta, to take photograph, when the phone was stolen, and within a twinkle of the crime, the suspect switched off the phone.

The case was reported to the police thereafter, and in swift response the authorities commenced investigation, and in the course of intensive investigation which lasted for over two months, the suspect, Maureen Ohakamike was tracked in Lagos.

The twenty year old female suspect was subsequently arrested in Lekki by the operatives of the Isheri-Magodo division of the Nigeria Police, and was brought to the scene of the crime on Tuesday in Abeokuta.

The Igbo born suspected while speaking with journalists at the scene of the crime, confessed that she stole the phone, when the victim left her bag on a seat, as she was being attended to by the photographers of the business centre.

Furthermore, she disclosed that shortly after she stole the phone, she immediately switched it off and hid it within the premises of the business centre, making it difficult to locate it, as the victim and staff of the business centre were busy searching for it.

Meanwhile, sources informed that policemen have continued further interrogation of the suspect, assuring that on completion of investigation, she will be charged to court to face the law.
