In a renewed push to strengthen the safety of lives and property across communities within Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman, Amb. Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA, has convened a strategic town hall meeting in Ajebo to address rising security concerns—especially incidents of kidnapping and suspected banditry in rural settlements.
During the engagement, which followed his on-the-spot assessment of the town, Amb. Ogunsola reassured residents of the government’s firm commitment to preventing any form of criminal incursion. He emphasized that protecting communities remained a top priority and urged residents to maintain close cooperation with the Nigeria Police Force, Amotekun Corps, the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, and other security outfits operating in the area.
According to the Chairman, effective intelligence gathering depends on trust and teamwork. He encouraged locals to promptly report any suspicious movement, particularly individuals without clear identification or ties to village authorities. Ogunsola also issued a stern warning to informants aiding criminal networks, declaring that security agencies were closing in on them.
He noted that the police are actively investigating recent kidnapping incidents and expressed confidence that perpetrators would soon be unmasked. To further boost community protection, Ogunsola pledged logistical support for vigilante units, So-Safe Corps operatives, hunters’ groups, and other grassroots security teams.
The Olu of Ajebo, Oba Reuben Oluwole, commended the Chairman for standing by the community during a challenging period. He affirmed that residents are ready to collaborate fully with security agencies, adding that everyone must take responsibility for safeguarding the area. The monarch urged residents to report anyone without a legitimate means of livelihood, stressing that vigilance remains a shared duty.
Amb. Ogunsola also visited McPherson University and a local church, where he engaged stakeholders in extended discussions on security cooperation and solicited their continued support for maintaining peace in the region.
The town hall meeting drew key stakeholders, including the DPO of Owode-Egba Division, DSP Akinwande; Hon. Abiodun Obasanjo, Councillor for Ajebo Ward; Hon. Sunday Ogunronbi, Councillor for Alapako-Oni Ward; Hon. Saula Audio Taiwo, Supervisor for Special Duties; Hon. Lekan Shittu, Special Adviser on Road Maintenance; Hon. Idowu Makinde, Special Assistant on Protocol; various Baales, and community leaders.
