In a bid to cushion the effects of the current economic realities and spread goodwill during the festive season, the Senior Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, on Environment, Alhaji Farouk Akintunde, has distributed food materials and cash support to religious leaders and political stakeholders across the fifteen wards of Abeokuta South Constituency.

The distribution was done last week Friday, shortly after Jumat prayer.

The outreach, which cut across clerics, community leaders and politicians, was aimed at alleviating hardship among the people at the grassroots while reinforcing the state government’s people-oriented policies. Beneficiaries received essential food items alongside cash assistance to enable them cater for their immediate needs during the festive period.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, Alhaji Akintunde said the gesture was inspired by the compassionate leadership style of Governor Dapo Abiodun and his commitment to inclusive governance. According to him, the administration remains resolute in ensuring that governance is felt directly by the people, especially at the grassroots level.

“This initiative is in line with the vision of His Excellency, Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, to ensure that no segment of society is left behind. The festive season is a time of sharing and caring, and it is important that our people, particularly religious and political leaders who play key roles in community development, feel supported,” Akintunde stated.

He noted that religious leaders and politicians serve as vital links between the government and the people, adding that empowering them would further strengthen unity, peace and socio-economic stability within the constituency.

Several beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful. They commended Alhaji Akintunde for his continued engagement with the grassroots and lauded Governor Abiodun for fostering a governance culture centered on empathy and responsiveness.

A cleric who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries said the intervention would go a long way in supporting vulnerable members of their communities, while also promoting harmony during the festive season.

The distribution exercise further underscores the Ogun State Government’s commitment to social welfare and its broader agenda of improving the quality of life for residents across the state through inclusive and people-focused initiatives.
