The Ogun State government regrets the unfortunate loss of life of a secondary school student along Lagos-Ibadan highway around Itori and Wasimi village allegedly caused by a runaway truck driver.

According to the press statement signed by Engr. Gbenga Dairo, The government commiserates with the family of the deceased over the unfortunate incident and assure the family and the public that every step will be taken to avoid a reoccurrence of this kind of incident in Ogun State.

As a demonstration of the government's unwavering commitment to ensuring justice at all times, the Governor has directed Ministry of Transportation to engage the school authority and other stakeholders, and unravel the circumstances that led to the incident with a view to preventing recurrence of such incident at the site and other similar locations across the state.

The public should further note that the Ogun State Government remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of lives and properties of all residents and visitors in the State in all locations they find themselves including the roads. 

This is why it has continually initiates policies and programmes to exhibit this commitment, the latest of which is placing ban on trucks and other articulated vehicles from plying all flyover across the State and setting up of taskforce to ensure that all truck borne containers are properly latched whilst in transit.
