YCYW Ogun Chapter Sets To Honour 100 Reputable Youths

YCYW OGUN STATE TO LAUNCH AND PRESENT AWARD OF REPUTE TO 100 MOST REPUTABLE YOUTHS IN THE STATE IN CONJUNCTION WITH MINISTRY OF CULTURE AND TOURISM ON THE 30TH OF JANUARY 2021 VIA ZOOM

A Yoruba adage says " Yin ni, yin ni, ki ẹni le ṣe òmíràn".

Hence, In fulfillment of our commitment to provide knowledge sharing and promotion of our culture and traditional heritage as a tribe, the Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide Ogun State under the led administration of Hon. Sunday Adebowale is inviting the general public of the maiden Award presentation to 100 Most Reputable Youths of Ogun State for the Year 2020.

The Chairman while addressing the press stated categorically that this would be an avenue to reward, strengthen and support the Ogun State Government under the led administration of H.E Prince Dapo Abiodun (MFR) in their mission to further build the capacity and capabilities of our fellow Youths in the State for their level of diligence, resilience, unrelenting roles and contributions they've played and will continue playing in the growth and development of their respective localities as well as the state at large.

We have selected 5 worthy Youths across the 20 Local Governments in the State and we are laying down this legacy in conjunction with the Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in order to send out a signal to the entire Youths Constituency of the State that we're watching the impact and role of each and everyone of us in the development of the State, he said.

He further explained the meaning of Omoluabi Pataki put in place while selecting the 100 most Reputable Omoluabis as; Omoluwabi is a philosophical and cultural concept that's native to the Yoruba people. It's used to describe a person of good character. The omoluabi concept signifies courage, hard work, humility and respect.

An omoluabi is a person of honor who believes in hard work, respects the rights of others, and gives to the community in deeds and in action. Above all, an omoluwabi is a person of integrity.*

An omoluwabi demonstrates and exhibits the inherent virtue and value of Iwapele. Iwapele is ultimately the basis of moral conduct in Yoruba culture and a core defining attribute of an omoluwabi*

The most fundamental of these principles expected to be demonstrated by an omoluabi are;

*Oro Siso (Spoken word, the Yoruba accord great respect for intelligent and expert use of language)*

* Iteriba (Respect)*

* Inu Rere (Good will, Having a good mind towards others)

* Òtítọ (Truth)

* Ìwà (Character)

* Akínkanjú (Bravery)

* Iṣẹ (Hardwork)

* Ọpọlọ Pípé (Intelligence).

An individual can be termed an omoluabi irrespective of the religion the person adheres to.

 Consequently, some of the characteristics and traits of an omoluabi are considered virtues in many religions, for example, humility, truth and honesty.
