OTA, OGUN STATE — Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) have arrested a 32-year-old man, Olanrewaju Adebayo, for the alleged theft of three 16mm iron rods in the Ota area of the state.
The arrest was confirmed in an official press release issued on Wednesday by the State Commander, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi.
Intelligence-Led Operation
According to the statement, officers attached to the Canaan City Divisional Headquarters received actionable intelligence regarding the stolen building materials at approximately 7:00 AM on August 18, 2026.
Upon receiving the report, operatives initiated an immediate tracking operation to locate the suspect and secure the stolen items. Investigations revealed that Adebayo had allegedly taken the three 16mm iron rods and transported them to an external property along Ilasa Road, Adebisi, in Iyesi Ota, where he intended to negotiate their sale.
So-Safe Corps officers swooped in on the location at about 11:00 AM, apprehending the suspect on-site before the transaction could be concluded. The three iron rods were recovered and secured as physical exhibits.
Handover to Police
The suspect, along with the recovered exhibits, has been transferred to the Obasanjo Police Station for further investigation and prosecution.
Commending the operation, Dr. Ganzallo lauded the Divisional Officer, SC Tajudeen Abdulkareem, and his tactical team for their prompt response and professionalism.

He further advised residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to local law enforcement promptness.
