Sagamu Rolls Out Welcome Mat for First Lady Oluremi Tinubu as National Community Food Bank Programme Begins

SAGAMU, OGUN STATE — Sagamu Local Government on Tuesday welcomed the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as she visited Ogun State for the flag-off of food distribution under the National Community Food Bank Programme, an initiative designed to provide support to vulnerable Nigerians and strengthen community-based social intervention.

The visit brought together key political leaders and dignitaries, including the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON; the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; the First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun; the Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, and other government officials and distinguished guests.

The flag-off ceremony was held at the Primary Health Centre, Makun, Sagamu, marking an important step in the Federal Government's efforts to improve access to food and social support for vulnerable households and communities.

The National Community Food Bank Programme is aimed at ensuring that essential food items reach people who need them most, particularly vulnerable members of society who may face difficulties meeting their basic nutritional needs amid prevailing economic challenges.

Speaking on the occasion, the Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Jubril Odulate, expressed delight at the decision to host the First Lady and the programme in Sagamu, describing the initiative as one capable of making a meaningful difference in the lives of residents.

Odulate noted that the presence of Senator Oluremi Tinubu, alongside the Ogun State Governor and other government leaders, underscored the importance attached to the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.








He expressed appreciation to the First Lady for bringing the food distribution initiative to Sagamu and for her continued commitment to programmes targeted at improving the welfare of families, women, children and other vulnerable groups across the country.

According to him, the intervention would provide immediate assistance to beneficiaries while reinforcing the importance of government programmes that directly touch the lives of people at the grassroots.

The Sagamu council chairman also commended Governor Dapo Abiodun and his administration for providing a conducive environment for programmes and initiatives capable of improving the wellbeing of Ogun residents.

He said the local government was particularly pleased to welcome the First Lady to Sagamu, adding that her visit further strengthened the relationship between the Federal Government and communities at the grassroots.

The event also provided an opportunity for the people of Sagamu to witness the commencement of a programme focused on food security, social inclusion and community support.

Odulate said Sagamu Local Government would continue to support initiatives that promote the welfare of residents and complement government efforts at the state and federal levels.

He further expressed optimism that the beneficiaries of the National Community Food Bank Programme would make good use of the support provided, while urging relevant stakeholders to sustain interventions that address the needs of vulnerable members of society.

The visit of Senator Oluremi Tinubu to Sagamu comes as part of her wider engagements in Ogun State, where she is expected to participate in programmes and activities focused on social development and community welfare.

The First Lady's presence in Sagamu was widely regarded as a significant moment for the local government, particularly as the community hosted the commencement of a Federal Government-backed food intervention programme.
