In a strategic move aimed at deepening grassroots engagement ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election, prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Rotimi Makinde, has inaugurated the Osun APC Entertainment Committee with a charge to members to deploy creativity, culture, and entertainment as tools for political mobilisation and voter sensitisation.

The inauguration ceremony, held at Kays Place Hotel in Osogbo, drew party stakeholders, entertainment personalities, and supporters from different parts of the state, signaling what party leaders described as a renewed drive to strengthen the campaign structure for the APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Makinde said the committee was carefully constituted to bridge the gap between political communication and grassroots participation through innovative entertainment-driven initiatives.

According to him, the entertainment sector remains one of the most effective avenues for reaching the people, especially the youth population, whose participation will be critical in the forthcoming election.

He urged members of the committee to immediately begin work on strategic programmes capable of promoting the ideals, vision, and agenda of the APC candidate across all local governments and communities in the state.

“Entertainment and culture are powerful instruments for public engagement and mobilisation. When properly harnessed, they can help communicate our message effectively to the people and inspire greater participation in the democratic process,” Makinde stated.

He further charged the committee to remain united, focused, and committed to the collective goal of ensuring victory for the party in the governorship election.

Makinde expressed confidence in the calibre of individuals appointed into the committee, describing them as seasoned stakeholders with the experience and influence needed to drive public acceptance and support for the APC candidate.

The newly inaugurated committee includes notable figures from the entertainment and political spheres such as Oyeniyi Olaitan, Bisi Awojoodu, Ajao Tajooed, Alhaji Muka Ray, Ajala Jalingo, Rotimi Salami, and Alhaji Adeoye Bakare, who will serve as Co-Chairman.

Others are Yussuf Ogunbadejo, Deji Adefisayo, Monsuru Obadina, Joke Oyin Adejobi, Damola Olatunji, Kunle Ojuade, Olumide Osunsina, Otunba Adekunle Abolade, who was named Committee Secretary, Akeem Arigbabuwo, Shakirat Adeoye, and veteran actress Toyin Adegbola, who will serve as Assistant Secretary.

Observers at the event noted that the inclusion of respected entertainment practitioners and grassroots mobilisers reflects the APC’s determination to connect more closely with the electorate through relatable and people-oriented campaigns.

Political analysts have also described the formation of the entertainment committee as a strategic step capable of energising the party’s support base ahead of what is expected to be a keenly contested governorship race in Osun State.

The committee is expected to organise concerts, community engagements, cultural outreach programmes, advocacy campaigns, and other social activities aimed at increasing voter awareness and strengthening support for the APC and its governorship flag bearer.

The inauguration ended with a renewed call on party members and supporters to remain steadfast and committed to the APC’s vision for Osun State as preparations intensify for the 2026 governorship poll.
