Abuja, Nigeria – The New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) has intensified efforts to produce its presidential flag bearer through a consensus process as the coalition of presidential primary election results from across the country enters a crucial stage in Abuja.
The ongoing exercise, which involves the collation and harmonization of results from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is taking place at the party's National Coalition Centre located at Wilands Plaza, Zone 4, Abuja.
In a statement issued on behalf of the party, the National Secretary of the NNPP, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday, disclosed that the party's consensus presidential candidate would emerge upon the successful completion of the nationwide coalition process currently underway.
According to Oginni, the exercise marks a significant milestone in the party's democratic journey and reflects the commitment of its members to transparency, inclusiveness and internal democracy.
He commended party stakeholders, delegates and aspirants for their maturity and peaceful conduct throughout the State, National and Presidential Primary Elections, noting that their cooperation had contributed immensely to the smooth progression of the electoral process.
"The emergence of a consensus presidential candidate after the coalition of results will further strengthen the unity of the party and position it strategically for future political engagements," the statement noted.
The National Secretary particularly expressed appreciation to the Bauchi State Governorship Aspirant and other governorship aspirants across the country for their unwavering loyalty to the ideals of the NNPP and their support towards the successful conduct of the primaries, especially the presidential exercise.
He described their commitment as a demonstration of confidence in the party's leadership and vision for a more inclusive and people-oriented political system.
Political observers believe that the emergence of a consensus candidate could further consolidate the party's internal cohesion and enhance its preparedness for upcoming electoral contests.
