In a move signaling the quiet but steady buildup to the 2027 general elections, Emmanuel Adebola Sofela has begun strategic consultations with influential grassroots leaders in Ogun State, meeting with apex figures in Ewekoro Local Government to seek their guidance and political backing for his senatorial ambition.
Sofela, who is aspiring to represent Ogun Central Senatorial District under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), described the meeting as part of a broader effort to connect with key stakeholders and ensure that his vision aligns with the expectations of party leaders and constituents.
The high-level engagement, held in Ewekoro, brought together a formidable assembly of political heavyweights known for their influence in local party structures and electoral mobilization. Among those present were Hon. Adegbenro, Alhaji Abidoye Amosun, Hon. Ganiyu Hazmat, Hon. Bode Adeaga, Hon. Kunle “Texaco,” Hon. Ademosun, Hon. Sikiru Adisa Adeshina, Hon. Iskilu Makinde, Hon. Dele Sholuade, Hon. Adeleye, Hon. Akinyemi, Hon. Gafar Balogun, Wole Fafunso, Alhaja Aliu, Hon. Kehinde Adepegba, and Hon. Akinwunmi, others were Comrade Adeyemi Amoo Azeez, the Special Assistant to Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun on Student Matters, and other political appointees at the state and local government.
Amebo Newspaper NG revealed that discussions centered on the political landscape of Ogun Central, party unity, grassroots development, and the qualities required of a candidate to effectively represent the district at the national level.
Addressing the leaders, Sofela emphasized his commitment to inclusive representation, sustainable development, and strengthening the voice of Ogun Central in national discourse. He noted that his aspiration is driven by a desire to build on existing progress while addressing pressing socio-economic challenges facing the district.
“I am here to listen, to learn, and to seek your wisdom,” Sofela reportedly said. “Your guidance is invaluable as I prepare for this journey, and I remain committed to upholding the ideals of our party and the aspirations of our people.”
In their responses, several of the apex leaders commended Sofela for initiating consultations early, describing it as a mark of respect for party structure and leadership. They urged him to remain steadfast, engage widely, and prioritize unity within the APC as the race gradually takes shape.
Political observers note that such early alignments could play a decisive role in shaping the dynamics of the Ogun Central senatorial contest, a district historically known for its competitive and strategic importance in Ogun State politics.
While the 2027 elections may still be some distance away, Sofela’s outreach to Ewekoro’s political establishment underscores a growing momentum—and a clear signal that the race for Ogun Central Senate seat has quietly begun.
