In a renewed effort to improve road infrastructure and ease movement for residents, the Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo has carried out an inspection of the ongoing palliative work on Ago Odo Road, a critical route serving several communities within the area.
The inspection visit, which took place earlier today, was aimed at personally assessing the level of progress on the project and ensuring that the quality of work being carried out meets the expectations of residents and road users who depend on the road daily.
Speaking during the visit, Oyegbola-Sodipo explained that the palliative intervention forms part of the administration’s immediate response to the challenges faced by motorists, commuters, and businesses operating along the road corridor.
According to him, the Ago Odo Road is an important link within the community, serving a large number of residents and facilitating economic activities in the area. He noted that improving its condition is necessary to reduce travel stress and support local commerce.
The chairman was accompanied on the inspection by the Supervisor for Works, the Director of Works, and other key officials of the council who are directly responsible for supervising and coordinating the project. Together, they reviewed the progress of the work and discussed measures to ensure that the intervention delivers the desired results.
Officials at the site provided updates on the scope of the work, which includes grading, filling of potholes, and other palliative measures designed to make the road more motorable while more permanent solutions are being pursued.
The chairman emphasized that although the current intervention is temporary, it represents a deliberate effort by the administration to respond swiftly to the needs of the people while plans for long-term road rehabilitation continue.
He also expressed appreciation to residents, motorists, and other road users in the Ago Odo area for their patience and understanding during the period of construction.
“We understand the inconveniences that road repairs can sometimes cause, but these efforts are necessary to improve accessibility and make daily movement easier for everyone,” he said.
Residents and commuters who have long experienced difficulties navigating the road are hopeful that the ongoing work will bring much-needed relief and improve transportation within the community.
