The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sagamu Local Government witnessed what party faithful described as a defining moment of renewal and responsibility as it successfully conducted its local government congress, ushering in a new set of executives to steer the affairs of the party at the grassroots level.

The congress, held in Sagamu, brought together party leaders, ward executives, stakeholders, and supporters from across the 15 wards of the local government area. It marked a peaceful transition of leadership, reinforcing the party’s internal democratic process and commitment to continuity.

In his remarks at the event, the Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, described the occasion as a significant turning point for the party. He noted that while leadership may be “turn by turn,” service to the people and dedication to the party’s ideals must remain constant.

Odulate paid glowing tribute to the outgoing Local Government Party Executives led by Hon. Rafiu Opaleye, as well as executives across the 15 wards, for what he termed their steadfast stewardship. According to him, the outgoing leadership sustained the party structure, protected its integrity, and ensured that the APC remained firmly rooted at the grassroots.

“We sincerely appreciate their commitment and contributions,” he said, emphasizing that their efforts laid a solid foundation for future growth and electoral success.

The chairman also congratulated the newly elected Local Government Party Executives led by Hon. Rotimi Omotayo and all ward executives, charging them to see their emergence not as a ceremonial achievement but as a call to greater responsibility.

“The mandate before you is clear,” Odulate stated. “This is a call to strengthen unity, deepen internal democracy, and consolidate the party’s dominance across all levels.”

He urged the new leadership to prioritize collective progress over personal interests, especially at what he described as a critical period in the party’s journey. Stressing the importance of cohesion, he called on members to close ranks, eliminate factional tendencies, and build a disciplined, inclusive, and result-oriented structure capable of delivering victories from the ward level to the federal level.

“Unity and progress must not just be words, but a daily practice,” he added.

Party members present at the congress expressed optimism that the new executives would build on the achievements of their predecessors and further strengthen the APC’s influence in Sagamu and beyond.

The event concluded on a note of solidarity, with chants of the party’s slogan, “APC… Renewed Hope!” echoing through the venue — a reaffirmation of commitment to the ideals and aspirations of the party.

With the successful conduct of the congress, observers say the APC in Sagamu has once again demonstrated its capacity for orderly transition and internal consolidation, setting the stage for what leaders hope will be greater achievements in the months and years ahead.
