Controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has openly prayed for Allah’s severe punishment and wrath to descend upon the political, military, and financial sponsors fueling Nigeria’s prolonged banditry and terrorism.
In a viral video sermon delivered in Hausa on Wednesday, the Kaduna-based scholar declared: “May Allah curse whoever is sponsoring insecurity in this country, whether they are politicians, military officers, or businessmen.
"May Allah’s anger never depart from their homes until they repent or perish".
Gumi, who has repeatedly claimed that certain “powerful elements” within and outside government are benefiting from the chaos, insisted that the violence ravading the North-West and North-Central zones is not merely criminal but deliberately orchestrated.
“If these sponsors think they are untouchable, let them wait for the punishment of Allah. The blood of innocent villagers, women, and children they have caused to be shed will never allow them peace in this world and the hereafter,” he added.
The fiery prayer has sparked mixed reactions: while many Nigerians on social media praised Gumi for “speaking truth to power,” others accused him of inciting religious tension and questioned why he has not named the alleged sponsors despite claiming to know them.
