The Nigerian Senate has passed the Nigeria Police Force Pension Board Bill, paving the way for the establishment of an independent pension management body exclusively for police personnel.
The bill, which was transmitted from the House of Representatives for concurrence, scaled third reading on Wednesday after clause-by-clause consideration by the Committee of the Whole.
Once signed into law by President Bola Tinubu, the legislation will remove the Nigeria Police Force from the Contributory Pension Scheme and place its retired officers under a dedicated, police-managed pension board, similar to the arrangement for military personnel.
