
Armed bandits ambushed a joint security team in the Kuzuntu grazing reserve, Anchau, Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Tuesday, killing one policeman and injuring several soldiers.
The attack occurred around 2:55 p.m. on 3 December 2025 as the team made up of Nigerian Army troops, police officers, Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS) personnel, and local vigilantes was returning from an official assignment.
According to security sources, the team had escorted staff of an agro-industrial company and local government officials to the Kuzuntu grazing reserve at the request of the Kubau LGA Chairman to carry out land measurements.
The exercise was completed without incident, but bandits opened fire on the convoy during the return journey.Police Constable Sunday Ishaya was shot and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Several military personnel sustained gunshot wounds and are receiving treatment.The body of the deceased officer has been deposited at the General Hospital mortuary in Ikara.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which highlights the continuing threat of banditry in parts of Kaduna State despite ongoing military operations.
