Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is set to meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London on Saturday, just ahead of a major summit of European leaders scheduled for Sunday.
The discussions will center on efforts to secure a peace plan for Ukraine amid its ongoing war with Russia.
A spokesperson for Starmer’s office confirmed that the meeting will take place at Downing Street in the afternoon, underscoring the UK’s continued diplomatic engagement with Kyiv.
Zelenskiy’s visit comes in the wake of a heated confrontation with former U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, where Trump reportedly threatened to withdraw American support for Ukraine.
The Ukrainian leader had hoped the Oval Office meeting would reinforce U.S. backing and deter any shift in Washington’s stance toward Russian President Vladimir Putin.
