The National President of the Afenifere Youth Council, Eniola Olajuni, has been freed after spending 12 harrowing days in the custody of his abductors.
His release was confirmed on Saturday by the National Secretary of the Youth Council, Biodun Aderohunmu, in a brief WhatsApp message to our correspondent.
“He has been released,” Aderohunmu simply stated.
Olajuni was kidnapped on Monday, February 17, 2025, while traveling to Abuja for a meeting. His captors later demanded a ₦100 million ransom and two tricycles in exchange for his freedom.
The situation gained nationwide attention after a disturbing video surfaced, showing Olajuni at gunpoint, pleading for help. In response, Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun ordered the deployment of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) to secure his safe return.
Though details of his release remain unclear, his freedom marks a relief for the Afenifere community and Nigerians at large.
