OBAFEMI OWODE LG BOSS HIGHLIGHTS PROJECTS AHEAD OF 100 DAYS IN OFFICE

In a bid to fulfill the promise of good governance at the grassroots level, the Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina 'Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA, has embarked on people-oriented projects aimed at renewing the hopes and expectations of residents and indigenes across the villages and towns within the local government area.

The projects began with the refurbishment of the Legislative Chamber, designed to create an enabling environment for the smooth functioning of legislative duties. This renovation aims to provide a befitting and conducive atmosphere for efficient lawmaking, thereby enhancing the performance and responsibilities of the executive arm in driving the overall development of the local government.

Additionally, the council chairman has paid the counterpart fund for the rehabilitation of a health facility in Ijemo Sotan, which is now 80% complete.

He assured that projects and programs would be evenly distributed across all sectors of government in due time.

Amb. Ogunsola has also initiated the grading and rehabilitation of roads across the 12 wards of the local government.

This effort is aimed at improving transportation, particularly to assist rural dwellers in moving their farm produce to markets, thereby easing the challenges of food distribution.

Some of the recently graded roads include:
- Mowe Axis: Pakuro Road, Bodude Town, Imedun Olori, Imedun Testimony, Ore Meji 1, Ore Meji 2, Anti Junction Road, Imedun Oke Road.
- Ibafo Axis: Papa Orimerunmu, Association Avenue (off Adesan Road), Mr. Biggs Roundabout Orimerunmu.

The grading machine is scheduled to move to Abisodun Town, Jabutu Sote Junction, Lukak Orimerunmu Road, Temidire Road, and Ijere Elelede Road, all in the Ibafo axis, in the coming week.

Furthermore, the production and distribution of over 2,000 copies of 60-leaf exercise books and other writing materials to pupils in public primary schools is ongoing, ensuring access to essential educational resources for young learners.

In the area of empowerment and palliative measures, the local government has facilitated the distribution of free gas cylinders to vulnerable women.

This initiative, aimed at reducing the negative health effects of cooking with firewood and protecting the environment is made possible through a joint partnership with Smart Gas Energy Company and Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB).

The distribution event will take place at the council secretariat on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 8:00am to 4:00pm

Other initiatives are in top gear, covering various sectors such as:
- Social security programs
- Market development
- Healthcare improvements
- Environmental sanitation
- Provision of water and electricity
- Rehabilitation and construction of classrooms
- Agricultural development and support programs
- Youth Empowerment
- Cultural and Sports Programmes

Conclusively, the Council Chairman expresses profound appreciation to His Excellency, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, CON, Governor of Ogun State, for granting him the opportunity to serve another term and implement his grassroots governance experience.

He also extends his gratitude to the good people of Obafemi Owode Local Government for their unwavering support, assuring them that ‘no stone will be left unturned’ in delivering impactful projects as financial resources permit.
