ABEOKUTA – Ahead of the gubernatorial and state assembly elections, a senatorial candidate with the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) Wasiu Oluwafemi Ajirotutu has advised former Ogun state governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun to form Alliance with People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu in order to unseat the incumbent governor, Dapo Abiodun.

Ajirotutu's call is coming on the heels of an appeal by concern citizens of the state who stage a solemn march to the former governor's residence in Ibara housing, Abeokuta to seek his alliance with Adebutu ahead of the election on Saturday.

"I am using this medium to appeal to the former governor of our dear state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun to form a strong alliance with Ladi Adebutu in order to save us from this APC misrule in Ogun state.

"Ladi Adebutu seems to be the only person who can deliver us and I believe he can't do it alone with a strong alliance from someone like senator Amosun.

"Taking power from incumbent government is not always easy but just like the alliance that unsitted PDP in 2015 at the federal level, the same can be replicated here in Ogun state.

Recall that some ogun residents, under the aegis of “Concerned Citizens” had besieged Amosun's Ibara residence, armed with placards bearing anti Gov. Abiodun’s inscription, to register their appeal.

Some of the inscriptions are: “Dapo Abiodun must go”, “Senator Ibikunle Amosun don’t let Ogun State people down”, “United we stand, divided we fall. “Senator Amosun support us now”,

“Senator Ibikunle Amosun, please join PDP allied forces now” and ” New Ogun State is possible, Dapo Abiodun must go”

The group had also submitted a letter to the former governor, appealing to him to join forces with the governorship candidate of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Oladipupo Adebutu.

Part of the letter reads, "We are the representative of thousands of concerned citizens of Ogun Sate on the forthcoming Governorship  Election.

“We are here to appeal  to your Excellency to please join hands with other political parties who in the interest of good Governance and Advancement of Ogun State had endorsed Hon.Ladi Adebutu and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as a collective tools to remove Gov. Dapo Abiodun from office as the Governor of Ogun state.

“It was clearly stated unambiguously at different fora by your Excellency that you don’t want Prince Dapo Abiodun to return as the Governor of Ogun State. To make this your laudable position a reality, your Excellency needed to join forces with other political parties who had earlier endorsed PDP

“It’s very obvious that to defeat an incumbent we needed to work together as a team with lot’s of sacrifice.

“Excellency Sir, we are hereby appealing to you in the interest of the good people of Ogun state to please see reasons to drop the pursuance of an ambitious of using ADC as another platform to take over power from Dapo Abiodun and APC.

“It’s logically clear that any vote for ADC in the coming election will serve as an indirect Assistance to Return Dapo Abiodun back to Office. There’s NO Way by which major oppositions goes different ways and the incumbent will not have his way!!!

“It’s on this note we are passionately appealing to your Excellency to see caution by coming out on Lead the major opposition political parties in Ogun State to victory on the platform of PDP".

As at the time of filing this report, Ajirotutu claimed to have been threatened from some quarters within his Ogun East constituency, saying that his concerns for Ogun state is not personal, therefore he wouldn't back down until he achieve his dream
