The people democratic people (PDP) will be holding it's primaries for the senatorial seats today Wednesday, 25th of may, 2022.
In Imo North (Okigwe Zone) especially, it's going to be a tensed election considering the big wigs that are contesting for the ticket.
Among others, the most popular is Chief Emmanuel Okewulonu, whose mandate was stolen in 2020 after the senatorial bye-election in the zone that saw APC's Frank Ibezim declared as winner in a manner described by many as fraudulent.
Emmanuel Okewulonu who was just a newbie in the political elections quickly became a household within few months of his sojourn into the race in 2020.
Though new to politics, he has been known for his philanthropic activities and giant strides in bringing succor to the people of Okigwe Zone. On every 26th of December, He has always been sharing food items, clothing materials, cash gifts to the people of Imo state and this has created a level ground for him when it comes to popularity.
When he declared to run in 2020, it was jubilation in Okigwe Zone where he is being referred to as 'Ikeoha' because the people were sure that their yearnings for a better Okigwe Zone would be achieved.
As the primary will be holding today, it will only be better for the PDP to give him the ticket going by his antecedents, sacrifices, popularity in order to have a seamless victory into the red chamber in 2023.
