Diya Commends Gov. Abiodun Over Improvement Of Power Supplies In Ogun

The Chairmanship Aspirant of Odogbolu Local Government in the forthcoming election Dr. Babatunde Diya has commended Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun's effort in improving power supplies in the state.

Babatunde Diya is the only aspirant with the YELLOW INITIATIVE Objectives, which are in line with the 5 point implementation pillars of H.E Prince Dapo Abiodun MFRs #ISEYA mantra.

According to His Excellency Prince Dr Dapo Abiodun mfr, there is no doubt that a major national challenge to both industrial growth and domestic wellbeing is availability of regular power supply. In our usual deliberate approach, we have taken a number of strategic steps to significantly improve power supply in the State, which include:

• Establishment, for the first time in the state, a Power and Energy Board;

• Commencement of Power Audit to 

dimension the power requirements in the 

state with a view to determining the needs and improved provision of power supply in phases.

• The output from the Power Audit will serve as input into the Light Up Ogun Project, aimed at improving power supply to critical locations and sectors in the State;

• Procurement and Installation of 

Transformers to some communities across the State through the Local Government Transition Committees.

While taking on BUREAU OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING SERVICES in Ogun State, He said, The Agency was established to execute all electrical engineering projects in the State and to maintain and operate effectively, all State electrical projects and Services with the following functions: 

• Construct and maintain street lighting 

projects for government buildings and 

associated infrastructure.

• Design and execute electrification projects for urban and rural communities including distribution networks, grid connections and rehabilitation services;

• Procurement, installation and maintenance of transformer sub-stations across the States

Electrification of Communities in Ogun State

• 500KVA/33KV Transformer at Captain 

Adesina, Iperu: The People of Okesuna/Yiga Community Development Area, Old Ibadan Road, Iperu with a total population of one thousand and five hundred (1,500) spread across four (4) communities had been in a total darkness 

for the past two (2) years due to a faulty 500KVA 

Transformer which was named “Captain Adesina sub-station.

• 300KVA/11KV/0.415KV Transformer at Sakora Community, Bashorun Adesanya Road, Sagamu: to eradicate years of total black out in a community with approximately three hundred and fifty (350) buildings and a population of over one thousand and seven hundred (1,700) people.

• 500KVA/11KV at Rantipe, Obantoko, Abeokuta: Rantipe Community with a population of approximately seven thousand (7,000) people, had been suffering from epileptic power supply 

for the past of seven (7) years. The current administration recently provided relief with the procurement and installation of a dedicated 500 KVA transformer for the community.

• Upgrading of Low-Tension line and Installation of Transformer at Saje, Oke – Efon: It was brought to the Bureau’s notice that some electricity poles in Oke-Saje, Abeokuta South Local Government Area, were destroyed during the raining season 

and this has resulted in the community being shut out from electricity access. A team from BEES completed the rehabilitation of low-tension lines in the community to restore electricity to Oke-Saje, Abeokuta.

He however revealed the, UPGRADE AND NETWORK EXPANSION OF THE STATE INDEPENDENT POWER PLANT where he gave kudos to Governor Abiodun on 

• Redesign and rehabilitation of the state distribution network including protection 

mechanisms for early fault detection. This network extends from Lisabi IPP through 

Brewery/Shokori and down to Oke Mosan. From there it extends down to the new 

Judiciary Complex and as far down as Day Waterman school.

• Expansion of the state distribution network to include the New Judicial Complex, St. Peters Cathedral Ake, New 250 Bed Specialist Hospital, Stella

Obasanjo Children’s Home and the Tech Hub in Oke Mosan which he believes is the largest in the South West with a capacity to churn out the best  programmers the country has seen.

Diya concluded by praising the governor for the giant strides he has taken since assuming the seat of the number 1 citizen of the State. As a youth, this is the leadership we clamour for, he exclaimed.
