International Widow's Day 2020: Mrs Bamidele Abiodun Reach Out To Widows

Abeokuta - The Wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun has reached out to the  widows in the to giving them a better livelihood and ensuring they benefit from other dividends of democracy, as she joined the rest of the world to celebrate International Widows’ Day.























Mrs Abiodun who was represented by former Speaker of Ogun State Assembly,, RT. Hon Titi  Oseni- Gomez stated this in Abeokuta South Local Government, Headquarter Ake,, Abeokuta. she said the International Widows Day, which comes up every year, is a global awareness day set aside by the United Nations in 2010 to raise awareness about the violation of widows rights in many countries.

The First Lady described widows pain as unique and volatile, stressing that they must be encouraged and motivated in all ramifications. She therefore called on every stakeholder, particularly women advocate groups to support and defend widows and their dependents in their domains.







Also, Mrs. Femi Ilori empathized with the widows described the plights of some of the widows as palpable, adding that plans have been ill not relent in protecting their rights. She also thank the first lady for remembering Abeokuta South Local Government's widows. 

In his remark, Abeokuta South Transition Committee Chairman, Hon Ayo Shomide added that the present administration prioritizes their needs and would continue to put in place measures to make life devoid of grief and more meaningful for them. He peomised to support all women in Abeokuta South and beyond. 

Cash and food materials were distributed to over 100 Widows across 15 wards of the Local Government.
