Tensions Flare As GAC Member Sponsors Intra-Party Protest To Challenge Sanwo-Olu's Nominee List

In a recent development within the ruling party in Lagos, the All Progressive Congress, APC, tensions have escalated as a group of protesters, purportedly affiliated with a member of the Lagos State Governor's Advisory Council, Senator Ganiyu Olarenwaju Solomon voice their concerns over Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's nominee list submitted to the state assembly. The situation has raised eyebrows and drawn attention to internal divisions within the party.

The protesters are scheduled to express their dissatisfaction with the list of candidates nominated by the governor, sparking a heated debate over the selection process and the overall direction of the party. Party faithful loyal to Senator Solomon, who was appointed as the Director General of the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, finds themselves at the centre of this controversy.

As the standoff continues, the Conference of Reformed Progressives (CRP) has urged Lagosians to be wary of political leaders who have taken greed for a hobby. Reacting to the alleged protest by its Deputy Publicity Secretary, James Fatoki noted that Senator Solomon can not be trusted with the alleged planned protest.

He urged party leaders, stakeholders, and members to exercise caution and seek explanation before embarking on protest regarding the nominee.

He said, "To the best of my knowledge, Mr Governor is not willingly to recycle unproductive leaders and whatever names they intend to bring forward. The same leader who is promoting this protest single handedly anointed the council chairman in Mushin local government, the vice, Secretary to the local government, leader of the House, as well as the House of Assembly member representing Mushin constituency 2."

Fatoki maintained that dispute within the party highlights the importance of maintaining unity during critical political moments, especially in the run-up to any significant elections or appointments. He frowned at the protest when certain individuals could not get what they wanted under the disguise that Mushin should get more slots.

Observers and analysts are closely monitoring the situation as it unfolds, as the outcome could have repercussions on the party's unity and electoral prospects in the future. The governor's nominee list and the protests it has sparked are sure to be subjects of intense scrutiny and discussions within political circles in the coming days.

The All Progressive Congress spokesperson have not yet issued an official statement regarding the situation at press time, but it is anticipated that they will address the matter promptly to restore harmony and internal coherence.

As this situation continues to evolve, it is crucial for the public and party members to remain vigilant and stay informed about any developments. It remains to be seen how the party leadership will respond to the concerns raised by the protesters and how they plan to navigate this politically sensitive issue.
