Court Awards N5m Against FRSC For Beating Taxi Driver, Seizing His Vehicle

An Abuja High Court on 31st January 2020 awarded the sum of 5 million against the Federal Road Safety Corps, for beating up a taxi driver and seizing his car since 2018, this was contained in a statement.

In a judgement delivered on 31st January 2020, Honorable Justice Adepoju of FCT High Court sitting in Wuse Zone 2 ordered the FRSC to immediately release the Taxi Drivers Vehicle and his other belongings illegally seized by the men of the corps since 2018 in addition to payment of 5 million Naira as damages for breach of his fundamental rights.

Reacting to the Judgment, the taxi driver’s Lawyer, Barrister Bashir Sabiu Ahmad, praised the judge for giving justice to his client and stated that the judgment has once again confirmed the courts as the last hope of the common man
