Yahaya Adoza Bello is a born leader who by dint of discipline and determination further groomed himself to become an outstanding leader and a rising star in Nigeria's political space.

You want to know the definition of competence, resourcefulness, goal getter, innovative mind, determination and focuse? Look no further as you will find the true meaning of above highlighted leadership qualities in the current governor of Kogi state.

His triumphs in Union activities during undergraduate days and his singular effort of growing FairPlus (Governor Bello's Private company)  from the scratch to one of the leading transport companies in Nigeria shows he is a good leader with good managerial acumen.

The  governor in his bid to expand Kogi economy has raised the state Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from N300million to N1.3billion monthly and also created 600 direct jobs through establishment of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KOGIRS) with about additional 2000 indirect jobs for agents, consultants and other players fully involved in revenue generation activities.

Apart from that, the new direction administration in Kogi state constructed the gigantic Revenue House in Lokoja, the state capital accommodating staff of autonomous revenue agency who is working assiduously to increase monthly IGR to N3billion through deployment of technology, block leakages/sharp practices associated with tax collection and partnering with MDAs.

Consequently, Kogi state under Governor Yahaya Bello has continued to implement infrastructural development projects and meet other financial obligations amidst paucity of funds.

Similarly, the introduction of business friendly policies such as dynamic taxation system, facilitation of smooth land acquisition/documentation process and channelling resources to produce raw materials have attracted more investors to the state in the last three years.

For instance, the establishment of  12,500-hectare Osara Cassava City has not only pushed Kogi to the top among producing states in Nigeria but attracts three ethanol companies; Contec Global, Geron Oil and Gas and Jil Farms.

Recall that Yahaya Bello's administration in collaboration with World Bank and FADAMA has been consistent in providing support for cassava farmers in the areas of land clearing, cultivation, high-yielding cassava stems (TME 419), training on best agronomic practices, provision of access roads, boreholes in farms, fertilizers/chemicals and linking farmers to markets (off-takers), amongst others.

Interestingly, Geron Oil and Gas, Praj India and NNPC would be producing 40,000 litres of bio-ethanol per day and create employment opportunities for over 2,500 people on a full time basis with 10,000 indirect jobs. At at today, about 1000 new farmers are already benefiting from the project.

Likewise, Governor Yahaya Bello has taken a bold step to build sustainable economy for Kogi state by investing over N4billion in Confluence Rice Processing Mill at Ejiba, Yagba West local government area. Kogi rice milling plant with the capacity of producing 50 tons of rice per day and capable of generating thousands of employments for the people.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Oloruntola Kehinde while conducting journalists round the Rice Processing Mill that will be commissioned next month revealed that 800 hectares of rice plantation have been cultivated to feed the mill when it start operation.

Invariably, the yearly production output from the rice milling plant is an equivalent of about 720, 000 of 50kg rice bags per year and this will continue to food security agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Without doubt, Governor Yahaya Bello is taking bold steps to build sustainable, vibrant and viable economy for Kogi state with the view of improve citizenry wellbeing as well as fast track development across the state.
