Nigerian top striker Ahmed Musa breezed into Lagos on a cloudy Sunday morning. The Jos-born winger was in town to seal the deal on an ambassadorship role he had been given with Syinix.
Syinix is a globally recognized consumer electronics and home appliance maker with wide-reaching sales network covering a good number of African, Middle Eastern, Southeast Asian, South Asian countries.
Musa came into town with close ally and best friend Shehu Abdullahi, left back for the Super Eagles. Shehu seemed really quiet throughout our exchange and was more than happy to take a selfie when we requested.
Musa in himself was quite jovial, making jokes with the SCOOPER team the minute we got into the room with him. He was staying at Sheraton hotel and his room was teeming with different people from camera guys to the Syinix guys to his own guys and then the Scooper team.
Musa is used to living his life under the camera. The 26-year-old Al Nassr striker has come a long way from his JUTH days back in 2008. Since then he has gone on to be the first and still only Nigerian to score more than once in a World Cup match. Musa is also the only Nigerian to have scored in two consecutive World Cups.
The 5 ft 8 striker doesn’t see all of that though. He is still very hungry for more glory.
“My personal target is to win the cup, so that I will have two AFCONs to my name" Musa excitedly told Scooper.
When pressed on what the team as a whole would be looking to achieve in Egypt, his answers re-echoed that thirst for glory.
“Lots of boys in the team are new to AFCON, so we have set a very good target of going to AFCON to win the cup” he revealed.
At this point, our allotted time with Musa was spent but neither party wanted to leave the interview as we were having quite the chat. But all fine things must end.
Musa went on to sign on the dotted line at the Syinix press conference where he re-affirmed his dedication to the family-friendly Syinix brand.
“I will be changing all my appliances to Syinix", the winger said. Furthermore, when a reporter asked Musa if he would jump ship should a bigger brand try to sign him, his answer was resounding.
“It’s not all about the money" he responded.
