According to the May/June 2015 WASSCE results released by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) today, 109 blind candidates registered and sat the examination.

From this figure, 20 blind candidates, representing 18.34% obtained credit in 5 subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

In 2012 blind students performed better than their able-bodied counterparts as 46.93 percent of 49 blind students that registered for the examination obtained five credits including English Language. At that time blind candidates did not sit for Mathematics.

Overall, there was an increase in the performance of candidates this year, when compared with that of 2013 and 2014.

Candidates will be able to check their performance on the Council’s results website: http://www.waecdirect.org   within the next 24 hours.
