Diplomat and Chairman of the Supreme Council of the United International Peace and Governance Council (UNIPGC), His Excellency, Ambassador Dr. Jonathan Ojadah, has received traditional chieftaincy honours from monarchs in Delta, Ondo and Ogun States in recognition of his diplomatic engagements, humanitarian contributions and commitment to peace and community development.
The traditional titles conferred on Amb. Ojadah are Ovi Emamuzozino of Emevor Kingdom in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State; Aare Shiobaloju of Ayeka Kingdom in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State; and Aare Fiwagboye of Olomowewe Kingdom in Agbado, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Amb. Ojadah articulated during an interview section after his Coronation in Delta State as Ovi Emamuzozino of Emevor Kingdom that "Sometimes, we misunderstand certain traditions until we meet people who show us a different perspective. This encounter of Bestowing the High Chief , Ovi Emmamuzozino (The Pilot Of Goodluck has Come) of Emevor Kingdom has taught me something meaningful that Culture and tradition can coexist with our Christian faith when they are practised in a way that glorifies God."
He further stresses that"This has also thought me that there is a beautiful distinction between embracing one’s cultural heritage and participating in practices that contradict one’s faith. Being recognised by Emevor community through a traditional title is not, in itself, a contradiction of Christianity. Culture and tradition are part of our identity, history, and heritage; what matters is how we uphold them and the values we attach to them. One can honour one’s roots, preserve one’s heritage, and still remain firmly grounded in Christ. Ultimately, it is not the title that defines a man’s spirituality, but his character, convictions, and the principles by which he lives. I believe it is possible to embrace our cultural identity without compromising our faith, and that balance is what makes the recognition even more meaningful.".
The honours reflect the recognition of his contributions to diplomacy, humanitarian service, leadership and the promotion of peaceful coexistence by traditional institutions across the three states.
The Lumure of Ayeka Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Michael Ayeyowa, Obojogunmudo I, selected Amb. Ojadah for the title of Aare Shiobaloju of Ayeka Kingdom, citing his dedication to humanitarian service, peace and societal advancement.
Similarly, the Olu of Olomowewe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sofela Olalekan Tunde, conferred the title of Aare Fiwagboye of Olomowewe Kingdom on the UNIPGC chairman in recognition of his distinguished diplomatic service and international standing.
According to the monarch, the title represents honour, integrity, good character and the responsible use of influence to promote the prestige and development of the kingdom.
Oba Sofela also noted that Amb. Ojadah’s international profile and exemplary character could help project the kingdom’s positive image beyond its immediate community.
As Aare Fiwagboye, Amb. Ojadah is expected to serve as an ambassador of honour and represent the kingdom’s values and aspirations on the international stage. Details of the formal installation ceremony are expected to be announced by the palace.
The recognition from the three traditional institutions highlights the important role of traditional leadership in acknowledging individuals whose activities and public service are considered beneficial to society.
Amb. Ojadah’s traditional honours further underscore the connection between diplomacy, humanitarian engagement and community development, while placing renewed emphasis on the role of distinguished individuals in promoting peace, unity and progress across Nigeria.
