Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested a suspect who was allegedly impersonating a Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The arrest took place on October 20, 2026, after officers intercepted a Lexus LX570 SUV in Maitama District, Abuja. The vehicle was fitted with a fake presidency number plate.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh disclosed the details in a statement issued on Thursday.

She said the vehicle and its occupant were immediately taken into custody for investigation and possible prosecution.

Preliminary findings showed that the concealed number plate carried the inscription “PRESIDENCY” along with the registration number 10B218 FG.

Although the suspect claimed the plate was legitimate, further checks established that the registration documents were forged.

Investigators also found that the man had been posing as a Permanent Secretary attached to the Office of the SGF.

The suspect and the vehicle remain in police custody as investigations continue.
