Troops, in collaboration with other security agencies, have prevented a clash between farmers and herders in Jaba LGA of Kaduna state.
The conflict was over alleged encroachment on farmlands in Nok community in the LGA.
Zagazola Makama a counter-insurgency publication, said that troops responded at about 9:30am on September 5 following a report of a confrontation between the two groups.
“The intervention of the security personnel brought the situation under control and prevented the dispute from escalating,” Makama said.
“A peace meeting was subsequently convened at about 11 a.m., with the Vice Chairman of Jaba LGA and other stakeholders in attendance.
“The stakeholders resolved the dispute amicably, while normalcy has been restored in the area.”
The publication said security agencies are expected to maintain surveillance in the community to prevent a recurrence of the conflict.
