…Says Projects Will Accelerate Grassroots Development in Obafemi Owode

The Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA, has commenced the expansion and reconstruction of the Makogi Primary Health Centre as part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare delivery and provide critical infrastructure across the council area.

The Chairman turned the sod for the project at Makogi, Ofada Ward, where he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing people-oriented projects capable of directly improving the quality of life of residents.

According to Ogunsola, the expansion and reconstruction of the Primary Health Centre is aimed at responding to the growing healthcare needs of Makogi and neighbouring communities, while creating a more conducive environment for the delivery of quality medical services.

He noted that access to functional and adequately equipped healthcare facilities remains essential to the wellbeing of the people, assuring residents that his administration would continue to prioritise projects that have direct and sustainable impact on communities.

In a major boost to infrastructural development in the area, the Council Chairman also announced plans to construct a 400-metre road linking 09 Junction to the Mowe Expressway in Ofada Ward.

Ogunsola explained that the road project would improve accessibility and ease the movement of residents, commuters and other road users within the community and its environs.

He commended the Makogi Community Development Committee (CDC) for its cooperation and partnership with the Local Government, particularly its contributions towards attracting development to the community.

The Chairman urged other Community Development Committees and community leaders across Obafemi Owode Local Government to emulate the Makogi CDC by working closely with the government and taking active steps to advance the development of their respective communities.

He stressed that sustainable grassroots development could only be achieved through meaningful collaboration between government and the people, assuring residents that his administration would continue to spread development projects across the various wards of the Local Government.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Makogi Area Community Development Committee, Hon. Komolafe Busayo, said the expansion of the Primary Health Centre had become necessary due to the rapid growth in the population of the community since the facility was originally constructed.

Komolafe commended Amb. Ogunsola for responding positively and promptly to the community’s request despite the numerous responsibilities and competing demands of governance.

He expressed the appreciation of the Makogi community to the Council Chairman, describing the project as a significant intervention that would enhance residents’ access to quality healthcare services.

Also speaking at the event, the Onimakogi of Makogi Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Oba Babatunde Akanni Sonola, expressed appreciation to the Council Chairman for prioritising the welfare and development of the people.

The traditional ruler commended Ogunsola for demonstrating commitment to grassroots development and responding positively to the needs of the community.

Oba Sonola offered prayers for the continued success of the Council Chairman and his administration, expressing optimism that the various development initiatives would bring greater progress and improved living conditions to the people of Makogi and the entire Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.

The commencement of the Makogi Primary Health Centre expansion, alongside the proposed 400-metre road from 09 Junction to the Mowe Expressway, further underscores the Ogunsola administration’s focus on healthcare, accessibility and community-driven development.

The projects are expected to contribute significantly to improving healthcare access, easing transportation and strengthening socioeconomic activities in Makogi, Ofada Ward and surrounding communities.
