The Federal Government has ordered a forensic investigation into payroll and other government systems following revelations of additional fake agencies uncovered by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, disclosed that President Bola Tinubu briefed the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on ICPC’s interim findings regarding the fraudulent “Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council” (PFIPC).

Tinubu subsequently directed that the probe be expanded to the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).Oyedele explained that the investigation will determine how the fake agencies obtained official codes, identify weaknesses in government processes, and strengthen internal controls.

“Mr President gave us updates about the ICPC’s work, and council has directed that we commission a forensic investigation into our processes and procedures. The findings revealed additional fake agencies, so it is important to establish what went wrong, how it can be prevented, and how we can make our systems stronger,” he said.

The government emphasized that the probe is aimed at closing loopholes, reinforcing accountability, and ensuring that fraudulent entities cannot infiltrate official structures in the future.
