The Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government has reaffirmed his administration's unwavering commitment to strengthening collaboration with security agencies as part of ongoing efforts to guarantee peace, security and sustainable development across the council area.
The assurance was given during a courtesy visit by the newly posted Area Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Remo Area Command, Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC) Akinwa Damilola, who was accompanied by the Heads of Divisions within the Remo Area Command following his assumption of duty.
Receiving the delegation at the council secretariat, the chairman congratulated ACC Damilola on his appointment and warmly welcomed him to Sagamu Local Government and the entire Remo axis. He expressed confidence in the new Area Commander's ability to build on the achievements of his predecessors and further strengthen the operational effectiveness of the NSCDC in the area.
The council boss noted that security remains a fundamental pillar for socio-economic growth, investment and community development, stressing that no meaningful progress can be achieved in an atmosphere of insecurity.
He assured the new Area Commander of his administration's continued support, promising to sustain the cordial working relationship that has existed between Sagamu Local Government and the NSCDC over the years.
According to him, the local government will continue to partner with security agencies through intelligence sharing, logistics support and other collaborative initiatives aimed at protecting lives and property across the council area.
He commended officers and personnel of the NSCDC for their dedication to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, combating vandalism, protecting public facilities and complementing other security agencies in maintaining law and order.
The chairman further urged the new Area Commander to prioritise community engagement and strengthen collaboration with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth organisations and other stakeholders in tackling emerging security challenges.
Speaking during the visit, ACC Akinwa Damilola expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him and his team by the local government leadership.
He assured the chairman that the NSCDC Remo Area Command would remain committed to professionalism, discipline and effective service delivery in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.
The Area Commander also pledged to deepen cooperation with the local government and other relevant stakeholders to ensure a safer and more secure environment for residents, businesses and visitors across the Remo area.
