ABEOKUTA – The Abeokuta North Local Government is set to witness another significant chapter in its development journey as the administration of the Executive Chairman, Dr. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, prepares to commission a series of completed infrastructural projects on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
The commissioning ceremony, scheduled to take place at the Local Government Secretariat in Akomoje, is expected to attract government officials, traditional rulers, political leaders, community stakeholders, residents and other dignitaries from within and outside Ogun State.
The projects, executed under the Oyegbola-Sodipo administration, reflect the council's commitment to improving governance, strengthening public infrastructure and enhancing service delivery at the grassroots.
Among the projects billed for inauguration are a newly constructed Administrative Building, a modern Legislative Building, the construction of toilet facilities, solar-powered boreholes to improve access to potable water, as well as the provision of desks and benches to public schools across Abeokuta North Local Government.
The projects are designed to improve the working environment for council staff and legislators, promote better sanitation, provide sustainable water supply and create a more conducive learning atmosphere for pupils in public schools.
Speaking ahead of the event, Dr. Oyegbola-Sodipo described the commissioning as a major milestone in the council's infrastructural development agenda, noting that his administration remains focused on delivering projects that directly impact the lives of residents.
According to him, the projects underscore the council's determination to fulfil its campaign promises by investing in critical infrastructure that promotes efficient governance and sustainable community development.
He added that the administration will continue to initiate people-oriented programmes and projects capable of accelerating socio-economic growth across all communities within the local government.
The council chairman also extended an invitation to residents, community leaders, market associations, youth groups and other stakeholders to participate in the commissioning ceremony, describing the occasion as a celebration of collective progress and development.
"This is a celebration of what can be achieved through purposeful leadership and prudent management of public resources. I invite every resident of Abeokuta North to join us as we commission these projects, which belong to the people and are meant to improve their quality of life," he said.
Residents and political observers have described the projects as another indication of the administration's resolve to strengthen infrastructure and improve public service delivery at the grassroots.
The commissioning ceremony is expected to further reinforce Abeokuta North Local Government's commitment to sustainable development while showcasing the achievements recorded under the Oyegbola-Sodipo administration.
