A 28-year-old Ghanaian man, Bismark Aduah, has been sentenced to five months in prison after breaking into his girlfriend’s mother’s room to recover items he claimed he had bought for his partner.
Speaking to Crime Check, Bismark said he had been in a relationship with his girlfriend, Rebecca, for nine years, adding that they had lived together in Ashaiman for the past two years. He alleged that Rebecca’s mother never approved of their relationship.
According to him, he and Rebecca returned to her mother’s house to retrieve the gifts he had purchased for her. He admitted that they broke the door and lock before taking the items to Rebecca’s father’s residence.
Following the incident, Rebecca’s mother reported the matter to the police, leading to their arrest and prosecution.
An Afransi Court sentenced Bismark to five months’ imprisonment and imposed a GH¢1,560 fine. At the time of the interview, he said he had served two weeks of his sentence but had not been able to pay the fine.
Rebecca was also convicted and sentenced to one month and two weeks in prison. However, Bismark said he paid her fine, securing her release.
