The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State received a significant boost on Wednesday as several members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Comrade Fadipe Waliu, popularly known as Ijale, officially defected to the ruling party.
The reception ceremony, held on Tuesday, July 22, 2026, was led by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Ogun State Government, Engr. Jamiu Ogundele, MNSE, widely known as Jamsalod, alongside the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imeko-Afon Local Government, Hon. Adebolu Ramoni, and other party leaders.
Speaking during the event, Engr. Ogundele described the return of Comrade Fadipe Waliu and his supporters as a demonstration of growing confidence in the leadership and developmental agenda of the APC at both the state and local government levels.
He assured the new members of equal opportunities within the party, stressing that the APC remains a united platform committed to inclusive governance, grassroots development, and improved welfare for the people of Imeko-Afon and Ogun State at large.
According to him, the influx of new members is a reflection of the party's growing popularity, driven by the administration's commitment to infrastructural development, economic empowerment, and people-oriented policies under Governor Dapo Abiodun.
In his remarks, APC Chairman in Imeko-Afon, Hon. Adebolu Ramoni, welcomed the defectors and commended them for what he described as a courageous decision to join a progressive movement focused on sustainable development and good governance.
He urged the new members to remain loyal, committed, and actively participate in party activities, assuring them of fairness and inclusiveness.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Comrade Fadipe Waliu (Ijale) said their decision to return to the APC was informed by the party's achievements and its commitment to delivering dividends of democracy to the people.
Alhaji Yaya Fadipe (Afro) pleaded not to join the People's Democratic Party with his people as he promised the leaders of the All Progressives Congress APC at the deflection meeting.
He expressed confidence that the APC provides the best platform to contribute meaningfully to the development of Imeko-Afon Local Government and Ogun State.
The event attracted party executives, ward leaders, youth groups, women leaders, and supporters, who applauded the latest political realignment and expressed optimism that the new entrants would further strengthen the APC ahead of future political engagements.
Political observers believe the defection represents another strategic gain for the APC in Imeko-Afon, reinforcing the party's grassroots structure and consolidating its influence within the local government.
